
On Thursday, three exceptional schools from Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu were awarded the World's Best School Prizes 2024, marking a significant achievement for Indian education. Among the winners, Ryan International School in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, CM RISE School Vinoba in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, and Kalvi International Public School in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, will each receive USD 10,000.
CM RISE School Vinoba, a state-run institution catering to kindergarten through secondary levels, won in the Innovation category. Ryan International School, an independent institution, received the prize for Environmental Action. These awards are presented by London-based T4 Education in partnership with Accenture, American Express, and the Lemann Foundation. Jill Huntley, Managing Director of Global Corporate Citizenship at Accenture, praised the innovative solutions of these schools, stating they would inspire countless others worldwide to take necessary actions for the planet's future.
Kalvi International Public School was recognized with the Community Choice Award after garnering the most votes among the 50 shortlisted schools across five categories in a public voting process. It will receive membership in T4 Education's Best School to Work program, aimed at helping schools attract and retain top teachers by fostering excellent working environments.
Vikas Pota, Founder of T4 Education and the World's Best School Prizes, expressed pride in India having three winning schools, emphasizing the potential for other institutions to learn from their examples of commitment to high performance and addressing societal challenges.
CM RISE School Vinoba, originally established to support tribal girls in an urban slum reluctant to embrace formal education, was acknowledged for its innovative practices, including integrating local festivals into education and organizing early morning sports sessions. The school plans to utilize its prize money to enhance its Learning and Development Lab.
Ryan International School in Delhi was recognized for its innovative projects addressing water scarcity and pollution, such as hydroponics and biogas plants. The school aims to use its award money to expand its green technologies and establish a start-up incubator for student-led environmental initiatives.
In other categories, Colegio Maria de Guadalupe in Argentina won the prize for Community Collaboration, Istituto Galilei-Costa-Scarambone in Italy was honored for Supporting Healthy Lives 2024, and the First Ukrainian School in Poland, operated by the Unbreakable Ukraine Foundation, received the award for Overcoming Adversity, as selected by an expert judging panel.
